I was not sure on how the ending of my book was going to be. I was thinking maybe Kia would somehow find a way to keep the baby because she wanted to so badly. I also thought that maybe Derek would maybe be against it and have a change of heart and want to keep it. However I wasn’t surprised when she did if fact give the baby up for adoption. I was a little upset that they didn’t mention Grace at all after Kia went to see her the night the baby was born. Overall I think that this was a good book. It gets you thinking to how many things would have to change if you were put in that situation and the sacrifices and difficult decisions you would have to make.
All of the problems in the novel have been solved. Kia has reluctantly given up her baby to Brett and Joanna and she still feels that it was the best thing for the baby even though she was still upset about giving up her baby and still wanted her back. She also got her life back the way that it was before. she could do the things that she wanted even though she didn’t want to do anything because she was too sad thinking about her baby that she gave up. She also got her friends back once she went back to school. Shawna was the same as she use to be again didn’t act weird around Kia.

Dancing Naked
The main conflict in my book is what Kia should do with her baby. This situation was the cause of all the main conflict in this book. The first conflict that it caused was weather or not to go through with the pregnancy or to get an abortion. While Derek wanted her to get an abortion Kia was having second thoughts about it. Kia didn’t want to go through with the abortion but she didnt want to tell Derek that because she knew he would never agree to not getting it. Kia made the decision on her own that she wouldn’t go through with it even though Derek would be angry.
The decision that she made not to get the abortion lead to further conflict in the novel. After she decided abortion was not for her she had to tell her parents about being pregnant. Her parents were very upset and disappointed to what had happened to their daughter. Her father didn’t agree with the decision that she made not to get the abortion and wanted her to get one. This caused a new conflict in Kia’s life because she didn’t want to go through with the abortion even thought its what her father wanted and she knew that she was disappointing her parents by not doing it.
After everyone had accepted that Kia was going through with pregnancy she now had a new conflict to deal with. She now had to decide weather to keep the baby or put it up for adoption. While Kia knew that she wanted to keep the baby because it was a part of her in the back of her mind she also knew that she couldn’t give a baby the life she wanted to give it at sixteen. Even with the help of parents and friends she knew that raising a baby would be something that would be very difficult to do. This is the most difficult conflict in the book that Kia had to deal with and she didnt know what to do. Both options would be extremely difficult to live with and she knew both of them would have their advantages and disadvantages. Despite wanting to keep the baby all to herself she knew in the back of her mind that adoption was the right option to give her baby the life that she deserved.

Dancing Naked - Main Character
The main character in my book is a young girl named Kia who has gotten herself into a difficult situation. She is an athletic girl who likes to play baseball. She also enjoys spending time with her friends and going to parties. However her whole life changes when she becomes pregnant with her now ex boyfriends baby. I think that my character was smart in trying to take precautions when becoming sexually active but she was not smart enough to make sure that she was taking every precaution needed. Also I think that in deciding that she wanted to go through with the pregnancy even though Derek wanted nothing to do with it was a very strong thing to do especially at the age of sixteen. Even though she was being pressured to get the abortion she stayed strong and went through with the pregnancy. However her weakness that she had was that she thought that she could raise a baby by herself at the age of sixteen and she didn’t think that she needed help or that she needed to put the baby up for adoption. She was certain that she could do it on her own just so she could prove everybody wrong even thought inside she knew that she wouldn’t be able to do that.

Dancing Naked
The novel Dancing naked by Shelly Hrdlitschka is about a sixteen year old girl named Kia, who becomes pregnant after having sex with her seventeen year old boyfriend for the first time. Despite using a condom, but is not on birth control the young girl still became pregnant. After telling her boyfriend who she thought she was in love with him and would understand what had happened, she soon realized that what she thought about him was all wrong. Derek the boy she thought that she loved soon changed the way he treated her completely. He no longer wanted anything to do with Kia or the baby. He reluctantly agreed to take her to the doctor but decided that the only option was to abort the pregnancy and they could get on with their lives without each other or the responsibility of having a baby in their lives. After going to see their doctor Kia and Derek went to a plan parenthood center where they talked to a councilor. While Kia wanted to talk about the options that she had Derek wanted no such thing and was impatient and just wanted to make an appointment to get the abortion done. Once she made the appointment to get the abortion done she talked to her youth group counselor about what was going on with the baby and he offered to take her to the clinic to have the abortion done. Kia knew that she didn’t want Derek going with her, so she agreed. Once Kia got to the clinic and she was on the table waiting for the doctor to begin she all of a sudden decided that she couldn’t go through with the procedure and left the clinic as quickly as she could with Justin. She wasn’t sure at that point what she was going to do about having a baby but she decided that she couldn’t go through with abortion and that she would have to find another solution. After talking to Justin about things he suggested that she talk to her pastor about her situation and she decided that was a good idea. The next day she went with Justin to the church where they talked about the pregnancy with the pastor and he assured her that it wouldn’t ruin her life it would just be a change in her life. Kia is scared about what her friends and parents will think and she is trying to prepare how she is going to tell her parents, sister and her best friend Shawna.
